Lecture on Introduction of The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Was Held in the Polymer Building

A lecture from Dr. Enno Aufderheide was held in the Polymer Building on the afternoon of March 22, 2019, with the presence of teachers and students from Department of Polymer Science and Engineering.

At the beginning of the lecture, Xue Fei, Deputy Director from the Office of Global Engagement, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Enno Aufderheide as well as scholars and students who attend this speech. He looked back the history of Zhejiang University’s  cooperation with Germany and gave a introduction of Dr. Enno Aufderheide and Humboldt foundation.

In the lecture, Dr. Enno Aufderheide introduced funding standards, funding projects, application conditions of Humboldt Foundation, and highlighted the advantages of the foundation. He also praised Chinese scholars for high success rate of application and top total number of successful applicants per year.

After the lecture, Dr. Enno Aufderheide gave detailed answers to the questions from the students. At the same time, the host, Professor Jun Ling, recalled his previous situation when he was funded by the Humboldt Fund and said thanks to the Humboldt Foundation.

The Humboldt Foundation of Germany is an autonomous institution named after Alexander von Humboldt in Germany. It was established in 1860 and is one of the most important international research personnel in Germany. It is internationally renowned and it provides research funding for young scholars to conduct scientific research in Germany. A total of 55 Nobel laureates were funded by the Humboldt Fund. Dr. Enno Aufderheide has served as Secretary General of the Humboldt Foundation since July 1, 2010.
