The Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University has built a deep friendship with the University of Chicago and the Stanford University.

THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO

The Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University and the Institute for Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago has signed a MOU in 2016 and agreed to cooperate on joint conferences, student exchanging, faculty exchanging and collaborative research.

By the end of 2018, two bilateral meetings on polymer have been held, 10 undergraduate students at DPSE had a systematic scientific research training in IME at the University of Chicago, and more than 40 professors and students of both institutions had visited each other.

In 2019, the third bilateral meeting on polymer will be held in Zhejiang University.

THE STANFORD UNIVERSITY

A Delegation from the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University, led by Prof. Changyou Gao, visited the Stanford University from 6th December 2018 to 7th December 2018.

The delegation has visited professors from the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Material Science and Engineering and the Department of Bioengineering. Topics including tissue repairing and regeneration, optical and acoustic imaging, the control of hydrogel structure, charged polymer system, flexible electronic were deeply discussed between both sides and an initial intent of research cooperation was established after discussion.

When it comes to the students exchanging, the delegation  changed opinions with Prof. Jian Qin on the difference of training system of graduates. Besides, Prof. Changyou Gao and Prof. Utkan Demirci had a preliminary agreement on exchanging of doctoral students.

The visiting was a great effort to deepen the communication and cooperation between both sides and a primary direction of future cooperation was established.
