Delegation of The University of Coimbra from Portugal Visiting Zhejiang University

On May 7, João Nuno Cruz Matos Calvão da Silva, vice rector of The University of Coimbra (UC), led a delegation of UC to visit Zhejiang University. GAO Changyou, Dean of the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering of ZJU, and XUE Fei, Deputy Director of the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) of ZJU, met with the guests from UC.
In the meeting, the two institutions introduced the achievements of personnel training, scientific research, and international communication of each university respectively, and reached an agreement of further cooperation. JI Jian, Director of PCJICAM, introduced the fundamental state of the center, and summarized a series of innovations and industrializations achieved by the center in recent years. The two parties reached an agreement of further cooperation in science and technology innovation, information engineering, biomedicine, marine technology, and cultural exchange.
Found in 2013, The Portugal-China Joint Innovation Center for Advanced Material (PCJICAM) is the first national center for cooperation of international science and technology between China and Portugal. The center has now received many supports from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), the Science and Technology Foundation of Portugal (FCT), Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang University, etc. Four platforms have been under construction: biomedical materials, environmental-conscious materials, energy materials, nanotechnology and nanomaterials. Furthermore, two innovation platforms have been under the prior development: biomedical materials and adsorption separation materials.
Founded in 1290, The University of Coimbra (UC) is one of the oldest universities in Portugal. As a core institution in PCJICAM, UC is one of the main promoters of the cooperation partnership between the Zhejiang Province of China and Central Region of Portugal. Currently, PCJICAM and UC have achieved excellent research results on antibacterial interventional catheters.
