On May 18th, the 8th “Lisheng Cup” Interesting Chemistry Challenge was successfully held in the Zijingang Campus. Dr. WANG Nachuan, R&D director of Lisheng Group and Prof. WANG Qi, deputy department head of the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering attended the event.

The competition combines interesting chemistry knowledge with creative presentations. Through three stages, winners are finally decided among the eight groups of players. Contestants fought bravely in the first two rounds. They gave chemical nouns in the chaotic words and guessed chemical substances from the pictures.

In the third step, creative show of chemistry, contestants presented their ideas on the theme of ‘Chemistry Change Life’, such as “Molecular Machines” that can be processed on the molecular scale, membranes that helps reducing the “white pollution”, pro-hydrophobic materials for maintaining the surface of materials clean, aerogel for oil absorption to solve the oil leakage in the ocean, flexible electronic devices which can provide real-time monitoring of human body, etc. Contestants showed various cutting-edge research in the field of chemistry and materials to illustrate their understandings of how chemical knowledge and technology will change our life.

After a series of competitions, Xia Tian and Yang Lechen’s team won the championship with their solid chemical basic skills and excellent on-site performance.

The ‘ Lisheng Cup ’ is dedicated to spreading interesting chemistry knowledge, inspiring the students' enthusiasm for knowledge, and creating an academic atmosphere on campus.
