The 6th International Summer School on Advanced Functional Polymers for Graduate Students of Zhejiang University Was Successfully Held

From August 17th to 21st, 2020, The 6th International Summer School on Advanced Functional Polymers for Graduate Students of Zhejiang University was successfully held in the Yuquan Campus. The event consisted of 14 invited lectures and 14 student presentations. Distinguished guests included a Nobel Laureate, professors from Stanford University, the University of Chicago, the University of Alberta, the University of Minho, and the University of Bayreuth. More than 130 students participated in this summer school.

The opening ceremony on August 17th marked the start of the event. Prof. Changyou Gao, the department head of the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, presided over the opening ceremony. Prof. Jean-Marie LEHN, the Nobel Laureate from the University of Strasbourg, gave the first lecture of the summer school, which explained his deep understanding of chemistry and polymer science.

In the following 4 days, 16 excellent academic reports were presented in the areas of functional polymers, biomedical polymers for health care, polymers for energy and environment as well as polymer chemistry and physics. 14 students shared their academic achievements as well.

The summer school was an important measure taken by the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering in building a world-leading discipline and enhancing internationalization. It also promoted academic exchanges between the students and broaden their horizons.
