On the afternoon of December 24th, 2020, the Polymer Department organized nearly 100 teachers and students to carry out the laboratory safety lecture and fire emergency evacuation drill.

The crew conducted the second fire emergency evacuation drill of the year at the Polymer Building. At 4:15 p.m., the fire alarm sounded in the Polymer Building, teachers and students fled the lab in a cloud of smoke. Meanwhile, many fire extinguishers were prepared at the scene. Under the guidance of the staff of the Security Department, the students and teachers actively participated in the actual firefighting exercise, which was very important for enhancing the personnel's fire emergency handling ability.

The purpose of this activity is to let teachers and students have a deep understanding of the common sense of experimental safety, firefighting and emergency response, establish the awareness of firefighting, learn to correctly use tools such as fire extinguishers and fire blankets, and enhance the ability of self-rescue, mutual rescue and emergency response. As laboratory safety don’t have trivial matters, we should always keep in mind that prevention is better than treatment, responsibility is heavier than Mount Tai, and build a solid security line of fire defense to create a safe campus.
